Good to know

  • Switzerland uses Type J & C sockets — round-pin plugs (Type J has three pins, Type C is the two-pin Europlug) — at 230V / 50Hz.
  • Most phone, laptop and camera chargers are dual-voltage (100–240V) — you usually only need a plug adapter, not a voltage converter. Type J and Type C plugs are standard across Switzerland; UK and US plugs do not fit — check the label and shape of your charger.
  • Emergency services: dial 112 anywhere in Switzerland (police 117, ambulance 144).
  • Need to pack for it? See our packing list generator and entry-form checker.
